5 Features

At International Tutor Osaka, we leverage 5 strengths to meet the diverse needs of students and their parents!

point 1

Extensive experience teaching
students with neurodiversity

I personally received a WAIS-IV intelligence test result indicating “possible ADHD and giftedness”. I have also worked in developmental support center for children having regular exposure to information about neurodivergent, so I have understanding of such conditions.

As a result, many of our tutoring requests involve students who are struggling in school class due to neurodivergent, and we have abundant experience teaching such students.

We provide caring instruction to students who struggle with learning issues such as “I can’t concentrate”, “I can’t remember formulas”, “I can’t understand what is asked in the word problem”, etc.

point 2

Rich teaching experience as
an international-school teacher and more

インターナショナルスクールでsummer SAT math intensive courseを担当

In addition to private tutoring, I have experience as an international-school teacher, cram-school (juku) instructor, and in-company trainer for new employees.

Having taught many kinds of people — children and adults alike — I believe that what matters more than teaching the subject is fostering growth in terms of

  • “I can do this!” (self-efficacy)
  • Objectively recognising one’s own strengths and weaknesses
  • Taking responsibility for oneself

Under the belief that “when one matures mentally, a person naturally moves forward,” I offer instruction accordingly.

point 3

Bilingual instruction in
Japanese & English possible

I am able to teach mathematics and other subjects in either Japanese or English. Depending on how the student is doing, I switch between languages.

For example, when a student has just entered an international school, cannot speak much English, and is at the stage of barely understanding instructions in English-written problem statements, I teach mainly in Japanese while weaving in English vocabulary.
Then, taking into account the student’s English level, I gradually shift to English-only instruction.

Also, having attended both standard Japanese schools (ichijō-kō) and international schools, I am equipped to handle both types of curricula. I offer instruction that takes the best of both worlds.

point 4

Fully customised instruction
tailored to various needs

生徒様のユニークなニーズに合わせた完全オーダーメイド指導をご提供しております。

Because this is a sole-proprietor business, we can provide fully customised instruction that fits the unique needs of each student.

For example:

  • “I (the mother) can’t speak any English at all, so I don’t know what level my daughter’s English is at — I want instruction that matches her English level.”
  • “My child has a developmental disability and has difficulty understanding teachers’ instructions or problem statements, so I’d like things explained slowly and broken down.”
  • “My child tends to have ADHD and lacks concentration, so I’d like instruction that has a 30-minute study period then a 5-minute break.”
  • “Usually I want math to be the main focus, but when an essay assignment comes up I’d like help with that.”
  • “Today school is off due to the school festival make-up holiday, so I’d like tutoring in the morning.”
  • “Final exams are in two weeks, so I’d like intensive instruction in any available time slot.”

And many other requests — I respond flexibly to various needs!
